Our venerable church is in dire need of structural repair and restoration to guarantee that it will be here for future generations as it has been for the past 121 years. Generation to Generation is a capital stewardship journey that will challenge each of us to give above our regular weekly giving so that we may prepare Aspen Community Church for the future. Below is a list of many frequently asked questions and their corresponding answers. We hope it will help you gain a better understanding of the facts and help us as we embark on this very important journey in the life of our church.

What is Generation to Generation: Honoring the Past, Preparing for the Future?
Generation to Generation (G2G) is the name of Aspen Community Church's capital stewardship journey. G2G is a reflection of God's blessings on the Community Church during its 121 year history. Let us remember we are recipients of those blessings and let us strive, with God's help, to continue that legacy for generations to come.

What does Aspen Community Church hope to accomplish with Generation to Generation?
Aspen Community Church is 121 years old. The last major restoration was 25 years ago, and the building structure is failing. Our goal is to raise $4.95 million which will be used to pay for a major stabilization and historic restoration project benefitting our entire community.

Exactly what type of work needs to be done?
The work that needs to be done is extensive. Some of the most pressing projects are roof and balcony structure repair, new roof and drainage, masonry repair, stained glass restoration, new boiler, ADA restroom, energy efficiency improvements, improved lighting and fire sprinklers.

Will we be borrowing money for this project?
We haven't made any decision about borrowing at this point. The answer to this question will depend largely on the success of our fundraising efforts. If borrowing money is necessary to complete the project, that question will be brought to the congregation for a vote.

How long will the stewardship journey last?
We will begin collecting pledges during the month of July. We are asking for a three-year financial response. You decide your personal giving schedule – weekly, monthly, quarterly, one time gift, asset transfer, or another schedule of your choice. Decide on a plan that works for you; then, advise the church.

What if my circumstances change after I have made a pledge?
A commitment card is a statement of intent, not a contract. If your financial circumstances change significantly, your giving may also change. Simply contact the church to adjust your commitment.

If I can't give a large amount, does my pledge really matter?
Absolutely! All pledges matter, regardless of amount. We all participate according to our ability.

Do you have to be a church member to participate in the campaign?
No. This project will continue to connect us to our entire community. Participating in the campaign is a personal decision, and anyone may contribute.

Will we be displaced from the building during the construction, and, if so, for how long?
Yes. We will find alternative space to worship and to conduct the business of the church during construction. A rough estimate is that we could occupy the restored church after a twelve-month construction period.
